Chicken Soup for the Pissed-Off Designer: Using Design to Cope with American Politics
Join Martha Rettig and Sofie Hodara, Massachusetts College of Art and Design professors, for a talk about how they use design thinking to cope with their panic and hopelessness surrounding American politics. Find out how they use history, humor, and augmented reality to move forward when we are all exhausted. The Pursuit of Happiness art exhibition features over 70 letter-pressed presidential campaign slogans dating back almost 200 years and brings to life the often-preposterous words of our American political leaders.
Interventions: Narrative is Scout’s second annual design conference at Northeastern University. We bring together designers and creative thinkers to explore how we create, own, and maintain narratives in our work that have inevitable effects on society. From pushing the boundaries of traditional mediums to using design to advocate for women in STEM – everyone in attendance will walk away with new perspectives on the role they play as an influential storyteller and activist through design.
